The FisherONE Online Education community is celebrating after Leader of Wellbeing & Engagement, Amrita Moss, was awarded the Maximus Award for Excellence in Championing Student Voice at the Brisbane Catholic Education (BCE) Excellence Awards on Friday 14 August.

The award recognises educators who make an exceptional contribution to ensuring young people are heard, valued and empowered in their learning. Amrita’s recognition reflects her outstanding leadership and FisherONE’s commitment to fostering connection, supporting student wellbeing, and creating meaningful opportunities for student leadership across Queensland.

The BCE Excellence Awards celebrate the achievements of staff and innovative programs that help students reach their full potential. In 2026, an impressive 633 nominations were received from across BCE’s network of 146 schools.

Recognising Student Voice and Leadership

FisherONE Online Education Head of Campus, Megan Pidskalny, said the award was a fitting recognition of Amrita’s dedication to students.

“As Head of FisherONE Online Education, I couldn’t be prouder to celebrate Amrita Moss. In an online school, connection does not happen by chance. It must be intentionally designed, nurtured and sustained. Amrita has been the driving force behind ensuring every student feels seen, heard and valued, regardless of where they are located across Queensland."

“Amrita has transformed the way student voice shapes our school. Through initiatives such as our Student Representative Council, student voice surveys, coaching conversations and targeted wellbeing programs, she has created meaningful opportunities for students to influence decision-making. She has also navigated the unique complexities of our shared-school model, finding innovative ways to advocate for students and strengthen belonging within a geographically dispersed community."

“Because of her leadership, connection is not simply an aspiration at FisherONE. It is embedded in the way we learn, lead and support every student.”

Creating Connection in an Online School

FisherONE students learn from subject expert teachers while remaining connected to their base school communities. They also have opportunities to engage with like-minded students from across Queensland who share similar interests and passions. These connections foster the strong sense of belonging that is central to the FisherONE experience.

Through strong partnerships with schools, FisherONE supports students throughout their senior years by providing high-quality online learning, personalised wellbeing support, study assistance, leadership opportunities and pastoral care. This flexible model enables students to access a broader range of senior subjects while pursuing their individual goals and future pathways.

Beyond Her Role at FisherONE

In addition to her leadership role at FisherONE, Amrita is a recognised educational author and subject matter expert. She is the lead author of Psychology for Queensland Units 1–4, published by Oxford University Press, and co-author of NICE Science: Years 11 and 12, a teacher resource supporting science inquiry, communication and ethics education.

Putting Student Voice into Action

Megan said Amrita’s greatest strength is her ability to translate student voice into meaningful action.

“What makes Amrita so deserving is her unwavering belief that students should be genuine partners in their learning. She listens deeply, acts thoughtfully and creates sustainable practices that embed student voice into everyday school life. She empowers both students and colleagues to drive meaningful change, and her leadership continues to enhance the online learning experience for young people across Queensland.”

Amrita’s recognition reflects the connection, innovation and dedication that define FisherONE Online Education. Together, FisherONE’s leadership team and specialist educators are creating enriching learning experiences that help students build confidence, achieve academic success and pursue their chosen pathways with purpose.
